## Opening passage

Breathless and desperate, Lila plunged through the rippling air of the library’s archives, her fingers grazing the ancient dust of forbidden texts. She could already see the scene unfolding: a candlelit room where a decade-old secret was penned by trembling hands. As the weight of her mission thudded in her chest, she caught sight of Dr. Hart’s shadow dimly flickering at the door, sensing her presence like a predator on the prowl. Lila hesitated, knowing that if she lingered too long, the past might swallow her whole.
