In a tranquil village where the sun casts long shadows, an air of dread juxtaposes the cheerful chatter as townsfolk gather for a ritual steeped in tradition. The black box, scarred with age and secrecy, is hoisted in anticipation, a malevolent artifact embodying unspoken fears. As names are drawn, a collective shiver rolls through the crowd; faces once familiar morph into masks of horror at the thought of sacrifice. With each slip of paper, lives teeter on the brink of obliteration, challenging the thin veneer of community as the true cost of conformity reveals itself. Who will emerge unscathed from this chilling lottery, and what dark truths lie buried within the fabric of their seemingly ordinary lives?
