For Teachers
Story Ants is free to use in class and needs no install or student accounts — open a story on any device and the class can read and decide together. Stories carry a reading level, and the history, Bible and classic-book stories each come with a canon record of what really happened for comparison work.
No setup
Open a story on the projector, a tablet or a phone. Students need no account to read and choose; everything works in the browser.
Reading levels
Each story records a level — kids, junior, simple, standard or sophisticated — so you can match a text to a class rather than guess. Children's versions of the same history sit alongside adult versions.
What to teach with it
- Decision making: every passage ends in a choice with consequences you can trace afterwards.
- Historical reasoning: readers are scored against the canon record of what really happened, so the class can ask why an event was a turning point and what would have had to change for a different outcome.
- Text structure: branching stories make plot, setup and payoff visible in a way a linear text does not.
- Writing: students can create a story of their own and watch how goals and stakes drive a plot.
Lesson shape that works
Read a shared opening to the class, take a vote on the next choice, then read the passage the class chose. Stop and compare the result with the what-really-happened timeline. Ten to fifteen minutes is enough for one full cycle.
Curation and safety
Stories are written to a recorded audience and content limits, and the child-facing library is filtered. If you need a specific text or genre prepared for a unit, email dan.rimon@gmail.com and describe the class.
